Transport into Munich and then a Self-directed tour of the City Centre until 3pm (Note: We arrive on the third day of Oktoberfest, so things should be busy, but the main activities actually occur a short distance away from the City Centre

The History of Salzburg and a walking tour of the Historic City Centre (presented by Petra Jenewein, Academic Director, Salzburg College) - meet at Salzburg College, Ursulinenplatz 4 - start 9:30am

Recent Changes in Glaciers in the Eastern Alps, presented by Dr. Heinz Slupetzky and Walter Gruber, Department of Geography and Geoinformation University of Salzburg - start 4pm
Reception on the Geography Terrace, Department of Geography and Geoinformation, University of Salzburg , Hellbrunnerstraße 34
Wednesday Sept. 22
Depart for Day Trip to Innsbruck
Arrive in Innsbruck at 10:30am - thereafter - The Geography of Innsbruck with Dr. Hanns Kerschner, Department of Geography, University of Innsbruck

The return bus to Salzburg departs at 5:00pm Arrival back in Salzburg at 7:00 pm
Thursday Sept. 23
Depart Salzburg for Bad Reichenhall, Germany (Regional Economic Geography)
Tour of the Alte Saline - (Saltworks)
Continue on to Berchtesgaden, Germany (National Park Haus - site available in German only, but maybe worth a look)
Continue to the Königssee Lake and Berchtesgaden National Park - (site available in German only, but maybe worth a look)
The return bus to Salzburg departs at 4:45pm Arrival back in Salzburg at 5:15pm
Friday Sept. 24
Depart for Day Trip to Vienna leave the main train station in Salzburg at 7:00am
Arrive in Vienna at 9:46am - thereafter - Vienna - A World City?

The return train to Salzburg departs at 6:30pm so at 5:30pm you should be heading towards the Wien West (Vienna West) station. Arrival back in Salzburg at 9:15pm
Saturday Sept. 25
Depart Salzburg for the Sameralm Research Station
Hike up to the Sameralm (approx. 1-1.5 hours)
Alpine Geomorphology on our way up to the Sameralm
Lichenometry Investigations in the Tennengebirge Area (Forsythe)
 Overnight at the Heinrich Hackel Hut or Sameralm
Sunday Sept. 26

Landscapes (Forsythe/Swales)

Hike down to the Wengerau/Werfenweng parking area by 3:30pm for the return trip to Salzburg
