Items to bring
The field trip program includes many outdoor activities, therefore the following items should be included in your luggage:
Personal:

rain gear (click on the picture in the upper right as to why!!)

hiking boots or a very good pair of hiking shoes

sleeping bag for the Sameralm

personal hygiene items (toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo etc.).

a towel (bed sheets are provided in Salzburg and Bozen but towels are not).

sufficient clothing for the trip (unless you want to do laundry in a laundromat). Remember that the weather can be very unpredictable. You can expect temperatures in Salzburg and Bozen anywhere between 5 and 30 Celcius. Rain is also a possibility. At the Sameralm, it may be colder, bring a fleece or equivalent.

a hat (the sun is stronger at higher elevations such as the Sameralm).

a day pack for use at the Sameralm and in the other areas that we will be visiting.

any required medication
Activity Related:
- a small clear plastic ruler (needed for lichenometric investigations at the Sameralm. If you do not have one already, I am pretty sure you can get one at any dollar store.
- Your journal will require that you have something for writing notes and sketching. Pens and pencils will also prove useful!
- a camera with film or a digital camera
- Anything else you think you need (within reason).
Should you forget something --- Austria is a modern country and you can probably purchase what you need.
